Supreme Court Latest Circular: Supreme Court Instruction for Hearing of Pnding Cases in Cour-Room Through Physical Hearing

In partial modification of the Modified Standard Operating Procedure for physical hearig (with hybrid option) before The Honorable Court as notified on 7th October 2021 read with notice dated 21st October 2022, consequent to the recommendations of another by judges committee in that regard, honorable the Chief Justice of India has been pleased to direct as follows:


Clause 1, 2 and 3 of the standard operating procedure shall be read as under:

  1. All the matter which stays on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as non-miscellaneous day will be heard in physical presence/counsel for parties in the court rooms.

  2. All the matter listed on miscellaneous day that is Monday, Friday or any notified miscellaneous days will be heard in physical presence of the Council/Parties in court room, however, on prior application by the AOR for the party video/tel-conferencing mode (hybrid option) will be facilitated.


  3. The AOR for the party desirous of appearing through video for tele-conferencing mode on any miscellaneous days shall exercise the option by applying online on the official website of the Supreme Court of India after publication of Cause List and up to 8 a.m. on the day for the hearing. In case the AOR does not exercise the Hybrid Option no link shall be provided in the matter.

Clause 5 of the standard operating procedure shall be read as under

  • If Honorable bench is of the view that in a particular matter the number, of Council is more than the working capacity of the Court room, as per covid-19 norms, or for any other reason the hearing of the matter he held through video/tele-conferencing/hybrid mode the Registry will facilitate a ring of such matters through video/tele-conferencing/hybrid mode.

All other clauses of the SOP shall remain the same the aforesaid modifications shall apply to hearing fixed on Monday 4th April 2022 and onward.
