Dear Sir,
Sub:- Public Notice issued by EPFO on EPS-95 scheme – A Few clarifications sought
I refer to the enclosed extract of a Public Notice issued by the EPFO in all the leading daily national newspapers across the country while introducing EPS-95 'pension' scheme, wherein the public is notified vide answer to question No.5 that "The pensionary benefits on retirement under the new pension scheme are more than those enjoyed by the Govt. employees. The notice goes on to explain this point.
The Public Notice is obviously meant to notify and guide those who are directly concerned about the 'pension' scheme in particular and to inform the public at large in general. This means that whatever has been notified in the Public Notice is factually correct and the issuer of the Notice is statutorily obliged to ensure that its contents are complied with in to. This is all the more relevant and significant in the case of a Central Government Organisation like EPFO.
As you may be aware, the minimum salary in Government is Rs.18,000 + DA. Therefore in compliance with the above referred Public Notice, the EPS-95 pensioners are entitled for a minimum pension of at least Rs.9,000 + DA, which increases twice a year. This is a logical inference from the above Public Notice. However, the EPS -95 pensioners are getting only a paltry pension of around Rs.1,500/- which remains unchanged till their death.
In light of the above, I request you to enlighten me as to why I am not given the minimum pensionary benefit as pointed out above. I understand that what has been notified vide the Public Notice is denied to all pensioners. Further, please also clarify how the pensionary benefits on retirement under EPS-95 scheme are more than those enjoyed by the Govt. employees, as claimed in the above Public Notice.
I would appreciate your early advice.
Yours faithfully,
