Next week, the Supreme Court will give its verdict on the petitions related to payment of PF pension commensurate with higher salary. The Chief Justice of the bench that considered the petitions, U.U. Lalit, will retire on November 8, so it is expected that the judgment will be passed before that.
The pleas filed by the Union Ministry of Labour and the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) against the Kerala High Court verdict paving the way for higher pension were considered. The hearing was completed on August 11. Besides Chief Justice Lalit, Aniruddha Bose and Sudhamshu Dhulia were also in the bench and it is not clear who will write the judgment.
Justice Lalit will sign the judgment before his retirement if there is an exceptional situation where the judgment cannot be delivered within November eighth. In any case, it is clear that the verdict in the case will be ready within eighth. The lawyers are expecting that the Chief Justice himself will give the verdict.
