EPS 1995 (Pensioners) & Senior Citizens totally neglected by the ruling Govt.
Why government is so harsh and neglecting the welfare of unduly meagre amount pension getting EPS 1995 Pensioners? Request your help in this matter.
All Govt officials/pensioners are regularly receiving fabulous salary/pension increase and DA increase even though they have not made a single paisa contribution towards their retirement pension from their salary during their entire service period. Their present monthly pension has increased nearly 4 folds or more than what the govt paid as pension amount to them 10/12 years ago. (Example: - Govt pensioner who was getting only Rs6500/- pension 10/12 years ago is getting more than Rs.30’000 pension as per the new approved 7th pay commission recommendations. Also, the minimum pension for a govt employee is phenomenally raised to Rs 9000/-. OROP for the retired military persons, enormous salary/perks revision for ministers and members of the parliaments etc.,
These are all goods done by the ruling government. Very much appreciate the same.
But why the government is adopting double standards!!! Doing nothing to the EPS 1995 (Pensioners) & Senior Citizens. Govt should put an end to this discrimination and make a fair and just pension policy for all the retired citizens of our nation.
Pensioners under EPS 1995 receive low pensions which are not commensurate with the growing cost of living
Senior Citizens depending on their living from the income they get from the postal (MIS) Monthly Income Scheme are also not spared. (MIS) monthly income scheme interest rates slashed drastically down and the 5% bonus amount applicable for the scheme has been scrapped by the government. Now their monthly income is drastically reduced and causing lots of hardship in their old age.
Contrary a person working for a non Govt organization makes a contribution to EPFO towards the EPS family pension fund each and every month of the year during his entire service days until the time he attains retirement to age 58. After retirement, most of the EPS pensioners get a very meagre pension (less than Rs 500/-). The decision to make minimum pension payable to all EPS pensioners to Rs 1000/- per month was taken by the UPA Govt in Jan 2014. BJP member of the parliament Mr Prakash Javadekar sitting in the opposition bench vehemently opposed this decision and wanted the minimum pension RS.3000/- per month and did nothing for implementing of the same after he becomes a minister in the present ruling government.
Functioning of pension disbursing unit EPFO is horrible. A pensioner can never get a decent pension amount after retirement from service, because of ill-conceived formulated rules and regulations by EPFO. EPFO requires to be revamped completely with the help of professionals like Shri Gurumurthy or should be dissolved. I have narrated below the way EPFO handled my pension disbursement after my retirement in the year 2004.
My EPS pension Rs 635/- per month was wrongly calculated by EPFO (Pune) and PPO was issued granting me a pension of Rs 325/- per month and it took a bitter struggle of many years with EPFO (Pune) to protect my rights. After providing all proof for the wrongs committed by EPFO, I finally got the PPO revised for a pension of Rs 635/- per month after a lapse of five and half years. I had to undergo mental torture for five and half years for the mistakes committed by EPFO.
Most of our parliamentarians in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are Senior citizens and they get handsome salaries and enjoy a lot of perks provided by the government. These politicians are least interested in the welfare of other senior citizens living in our country. Old age is viewed as an unavoidable, undesirable, problem-ridden phase of life that we all are compelled to live, marking time until our final exit from life itself.
Considering the growing cost of living, request your office to do justice to the meagre pension receiving EPS 1995 Pensioners.
Devotedly Yours
