Action should be taken for distribution of EPF pension: Premachandran

NK Premachandran MP has demanded immediate action to settle pending EPF pension cases and disburse pensions. The petition was submitted to the Prime Minister and the Union Minister for Labor. The pension case in the Supreme Court is set to be left to a larger bench. The bench has not yet been constituted.

Premachandran pointed out that by prolonging the case, hundreds of senior citizens who are eligible for pension are losing their benefits.

Premachandran said in the letter that the Union Labour Minister had assured the Parliament that the High Court order on pensions would be implemented. It is against this assurance that the appeal was filed before the Supreme Court. Since there is no stay on the Kerala High Court order, denial of eligible pension on the plea that a case is pending in the court is denial of justice, said Premachandran in the letter.
