EPS 95 PENSIONERS LATEST UPDATE FROM SUPREME COURT SEARCH BELOW

The EPS95 holders from 186 industries, including pensioners from the private sector, under the banner of National Agitation Committee (NAC) which is led by Commander Ashok Raut, have been consistently demanding respectable pension and medical facilities.

In the last three years, the pension holders have been struggling to take their voice to the Prime Minister and have organised thousands of agitations from Tehsil level to Delhi level. For the last 559 days, the pensioners have been holding a peaceful hunger strike in Buldhana, the headquarters of the organisation.

Now, Hema Malini, Member of Parliament of Mathura, has taken cognisance of the compassionate call of these pension holders, several of them also belong to her constituency Mathura. She had a meeting with the representatives of the organisation and where the members informed her about their meeting with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the PMO in Delhi on 4 March. Understanding the seriousness of the matter, the PM had also instructed to solve the problems of pension holders immediately.

In this context, Hema Malini wrote a letter of remembrance to the Prime Minister on 2nd July and tried to draw his attention in this regard. In the memorandum, referring to the meeting of March 4 and the organisation's letter dated 13.5.2020, she urged the PM to provide EPS pensioners Rs 7500 pension along with dearness allowance and proper medical facilities.
In her letter addressed to PM Modi, Hema Malini wrote: "I would like to bring your attention towards the plight of EPS-95 pensioners. After your meeting with the pensioners on March 4, you had instructed Dr Jeetendra Singh, MoS PMO, to chart out a plan for the welfare of the EPS pensioners. I understand that the delay in the implementation of the plans could be due to the ongoing battle against the COVID-19 global pandemic. But as most of the EPS pensioners fall under the age group of 60-80 years, who are most prone to the pandemic and need proper medical attention. Hence, I request you to provide them with justice by granting a monthly pension of Rs 7500, as well as the DA, and medical facilities."

National President of the NCA, Commander Ashok Raut, reiterated that the EPS95 pensioners are living a pathetic life and many are in dying state due to a meagre pension.

"Being senior citizens, these pensioners are deprived of proper medical facilities. Hema Malini Ji and Prime Minister heard our compassionate call and our organisation is grateful to them. 65 lakh pensioners and their family members are looking upon the Prime Minister with hopeful eyes. On the call of Honourable Labour Minister, we have already withdrawn all the movements in the country, except for the "Buldhana Hunger Strike".
"We are not only hopeful but also confident that the Prime Minister will give us speedy justice by "one step EPS towards 95 members", so that the "Buldhana Hunger Strike", which has been going on for 559 days, will also end and the 65 lakh pensioners will be able to lead a happy life," Commander Raut concluded.
